Day Fourteen: walking the highline

Today was a much much nicer day weatherwise. The sky was blue and the sun was out, however the temperature was cooler.
We caught the subway to the meatpacking district to see the highline.
First tho, we had breakfast, and it was goooood! Cool new place under the highline with good food. The funny thing about American bacon and eggs at breakfast is they give you roast potatoes- they're good too.

After brekkie we headed up the stairs and checked out the highline. It's an old elevated railway line running up the weatside of manhatten that has been turned into a park and urban garden. Very cool!
Was cool to see it open, only stage 2 of 3 is open at moment. Really impressive tho. Would be good to come back and see in spring.

We then hopped on the subway and headed downtown to the World Trade Centre memorial centre. We got a tour of the surroundings and got told some stories from survivors and victims families. Was quite a sobering experience. The magnitude of the buildings collapsing is still jar to grasp.

The new SOM freedom tower and precinct looks really impressive however. So far it's up to 50 floors constructed and will reach 1776ft wen finished.

After scrummaging around at discount clothes shop Century 21 we walked up Broadway back up to SOHO thru TriBeCa. Was cool to see all the smaller streets and precincts, Canal st and Spring St were pretty happening. We then wandered down the Bowery looking for a place for dinner. We wandered thru Little Italy and then Chinatown. After walking like 20 blocks we turned around and went back to Little Italy for some beautiful Italian. Linguine Marinara was beautiful as was my soup entree. I have been having a soup before each meal - the weather seems to call for it - as does my stomach!

We finished the nite with some froze yoghurt from pink berry - tasty. There's quite a few of these places in the states.

Nite nite kids!
