Day Seventy: Fly me to the Moon...

For a place that we weren't overly enjoying; we managed to see and do a lot today.

We left Egypt bound for Paris, cruising down the strip in the dodge. We met up with Ross and Matt for a Parisian Brekkie at the foot of the Eiffel tower. Was actually pretty good food too and the restaurant itself was pretty classy.

The same can't be said for the rest of the hotel. Paris Casino is crazy. It's literally a recreation of a French street scene with fake sky to boot. It's so fake and overly done however, that I actually like it. It's my favorite of the casinos so far. I also love the mini Arc de Triumphe in the middle of the valet parking/ drop off area, it's pretty cool!

After brekkie we headed up towards the other end of the strip where we hadn't been. We checked out Ceasars Palace, wandered by the Mirage, Wynns and Flamengo, and strolled the indoor canals of The Venetian. I was a little let down by this one. Was expecting more over the top details and adornments. Still, an indoor canal with gondolas and men singing Italian steering them is pretty cool.

Ultimately though, most of the places lack substance or any real sense of character. They're quite hollow places.
I guess though most people are here for the party, gambling, boobs and ass! I only came here for one of those!

We then went back up to the MGM, and picked up some tickets for the Cirque de Soleil show 'KA'

Our next stop in the dodge was lunch at the hamburger joint In & out burger. Was really good too, old fashioned straight up hamburger. Really unhealthy I'll bet, but tasty. We asked for the Animal Burger - it's on the secret menu. I love the fact that there is a secret menu. We got a tip off from the Hawaiian guys we met on our Intrepid trip, "ask for the Animal - it's awesome" they told us.

We then ventured down into the old Downtown area, passing all the famous Wedding Chapels along the way. We stopped at the Little White Chapel for a bit, we parked in the customer parking area. Lucky I didn't get a parking ticket, otherwise I wouldve had to marry her!

The old town strip in Fremont street was ok - pretty nostalgic and drab in many ways. Apparently the light show at night is pretty cool. It seems that's the case with everything here though; it is much better at night.

We continued our Las Vegas Landmark tour, checking out the Hard Rock cafe giant guitar and the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign. We said our goodbyes to Matt and Ross and headed back to the Luxor for a rest.

After a short rest, we walked back down to the Bellagio to check out the water fountain show. Was actually really exciting - we were lucky and got Frank Sinatras Fly me to the Moon synced with the fountains. It now felt like Vegas!!!!

We headed back up to MGM to our show, stopping for a quick bite to eat at Puck restaurant.

The Cirque de Solei show was pretty good i thought, however sim wasn't impressed- she had seen better apparently. Was a huge stage spectacular with lots of moving sets, smoke and lots of acrobatics. Anyway- was a fun evening!

I love the fact that you can wander in and out of Casinos via linked walkways and bridges. It paid off tonight as it was freezing outside.

Tomorrow it's Leaving Las Vegas!

  1. Hope you haven't fluttered to large in the casino. Suggest you keep your distance from the "b & a" it's probably only there for decorative purposes. Your descriptions make it clearer why it's caller "tinsel town". Glad to hear your enjoying it. Love Dad
